SW1050 Advanced Underwater Inspection ROV

Mounted with the Newton M310UW Laser Scanner

The SW1050 mounted with the M310UW underwater laser scanner is a new accompaniment to Newton's world leading underwater scanning technology. This underwater drone has not only software self-stabilized position control but also the M310UW scanner, gyroscopically stabilized. The SW1050UW also allows operation in any orientation. It is also much smaller than most competing underwater swimmers, and much easier to control with Newton's built in operation and stabilizing software. Similar to current air drone technology, its powerful thrusters accommodate most external flows that may be found in the inspection area.

The mounted N310UW Underwater Laser scanning system combines rugged, industrial-grade hardware and electronics with sophisticated, Newton developed software that mitigates the disruption of turbulence and turbidity and is gyroscopically stabilized for precision laser scans; something often difficult with ROV mounted laser scanners.

The M310UW laser scanner has a demonstrated accuracy of 0.005" (0.125mm) or better, and is designed to work in concert with industry standard, three-dimensional software, producing a point cloud output so dense and detailed that a fully measurable CAD model can be generated.

The capability of the M310UW to provide precise, reliable and efficient dimensioning of as-is features and degradation is the best in the world.

Components of the SW1050 system:

  • The SW1050UW includes 5 additional cameras and 5 additional high intensity adjustable lights
  • The SW1050UW has side mounted laser lines to eliminate collision
  • The M310UW scanning head encloses a high resolution camera and two controllable output high-intensity LED ring arrays
  • The M310UW lights are a fully controllable output high-intensity white LED ring arrays
  • The SW1050UW console unit contains the SW1050UW and M310UW outputs and controls, a flat panel screen and keyboard
  • The Control Console contains both the SW1050UW controls and M310UW underwater scanning software
  • The supplied tether is 150 meters and contains a steel core for assured retrieval

Construction and Materials

-The SW1050UW ROV is rated and tested to a depth of 100 Meters (328 Ft)
