Automated Chrome Cladding Removal Machine

Newton's Automated Plastic Chrome Cladding Removal System will remove the plastic chromed cap from 13" to 24" aluminum wheels. The system will also identify any wheels that are sufficiently damaged so that the de-cladder will not work or would be damaged. The system will eject such wheels to the side of the machine.

The Newton Machine Vision Chrome Cladding Removal System will:

· Fully prepare aluminum wheels for melting without any manual processes

· Accept from 13" to 24" wheels

· As the wheel enters the system all necessary measurements will be performed

· In the center the wheel will be lifted clear of the conveyor

· A tool at the proper measured angle will be forced under the plastic cap

· The wheel will spin to remove the entire cap

· The wheel will be lowered to the conveyor and exit the machine

· The plastic cap and other debris will be forced out of the machine to the side on the debris conveyor

· Any wheels that cannot be processed will be ejected on the side conveyor for unprocessed wheels. (Such as damaged wheels etc.)

The Newton Machine Vision Chrome Cladding Removal System will include:

· A 18 foot motorized conveyor

· Side conveyor length to be determined with discuss between Newton and LKQ

· An enclosure in the center of the conveyor sufficient to measure the wheels, lift from the conveyor and then exit the machine

· Camera and lighting system to allow machine vision measurement of the wheels

· Computer system and software to control the machine. The system will provide data storage and communication to the plant system if desired.

· A 21" Video Screen mounted on top of the enclosure or other convenient area.
